I've been 7 years and have never really experienced what is presented in that post. I listen to those mystics, and try to value the good they offer regardless of the fact that I believe their faith base to be rooted in fiction. The metaphor is what I am really paying attention to. The messages there are worth listening to, well...most of the time. ;)
You find what you seek. Walk away from what you don't. Most people are too distracted by thte playa to even care if you don't buy into their deal. There is SO much to experience and so little time. If you are not down w/ the woo-woo, most people I come across don't even bring that up at all.
It would be cool if people stop making such narrow assumptions of what goes on out there. Especially those who have never been. And even more so, those who are particularly "anti" due to personal issues beyond the value of the event itself.
My advice: Don't go. Clubs, house parties, karaoke, and breaking free of "the real world" in your preferred way is your deal. Kudos to those who can live and let live and recognize such efforts serve a very similar purpose.
I think you need to explore the real-life functions of faith, given the fact that we are all worm food in the end.
Who ends up happier? Us monkeys with the least amount of ulsers and expensive trips to our therapists. Time spent milling through the reality off... that doesn't feel anywhere near as wonderful as spooning loved ones while watching high quality sci-fi mini-series while eating pizza and waiting for the next waive of energy to fuck like 16 year olds (metaphor here -- enough not to get me arrested). Or shall I say, 16 year olds with skill, endurance, and mind-driven intention. (Off the record). Nah, they REALLY aren't worth it unless you are DESPERATELY desperate. YAU for humans! I love them so.
