Wow what a bunch of tards. At my worst, I had 35K in debt for loans, and I was paying $300/month on it, but I was also paying that much for my car payment. And that's a ten-year payoff. Granted I had one really low-interest loan, but reconsolidation is an option for everyone. Who the hell is paying over $600 a month for an 18K debt?

The girl who said "That $675 I could be spending in rent could also be a good chunk of a credit card payment, or a huge payment for my student loans", I don't think she said that all of that $675 was necessarily going toward her loans. Even if she was, I wouldn't blame her for wanting to pay it off twice as fast. Even though I'd think her daft for wanting to live at home for at least five years.

I don't know anyone that's paying 6% interest on their student loans....at least they shouldn't be on federal ones. I'm paying like 2%. I came out with 20K in debt and am doing the 10 year plan paying $129/mo. Granted, I went to a state school, but that's because I knew I couldn't afford a private school.
