Reg and Quent and I watched Immortel last night. It was definitely bad, but not as bad as say Fifth Element. On the other hand that movie kind of glorified in its badness, whereas this just had gratuitous mindfucking scenes. I actually do mean rape by way of mental telepathy. But it wasn't utterly mediocre either. I actually enjoyed it because it was just that fucked up and pretty. The only real problem was the plot being sketchy. In both senses. It was written by the same person who wrote the comics it was based off of, which was probably a mistake. Luc Besson would have fucked it up too, though, cos he would have put a lot more guns in.

As far as I can tell, the plot is something about how in NYC in 2095, Egyptian gods come back to Earth, and Horus is set free for seven days. He tries to find Jill, an alien/mutant woman who is freaking out the medical establishment with her fucked up organ placement and superhuman strength/etc. And there's a hero/renegade cop who's trying to find a serial killer, who is incidentally Horus trying to find a human host and fucking up. See, everyone is either a mutant or has designer surgery implants, so he can't use them. So he has to break out a criminal, stuck in hibernation for the past thirty years, for trying to get people to stop doing the implant crazy shit.

So yeah, super weird and fucked up, but definitely engaging.
