it doesn't say why.. i don't remember mass deaths occurring due to its usage. though the whole implant thing creeps me the fuck out, if it works for you (not specifically you, i just mean anyone out there), go for it. i'd probably never willingly have an IUD (not really comparable to norplant, but it's still something implanted in part of your body that isn't intended to come out easily), either. *twitch*

Norplant is the devil. My sister had it back when it was still legal. She had two miscarriages the first year.

No, it's supposed to prevent pregnancy, not allow pregnancy and cause miscarriage. Having a miscarriage when you didn't know you were pregnant is a scary fucking thing.

Heh, good point. But she hadn't skipped a period, nothing to indicate that she was pregnant at all, until one day she started having massive cramps and then miscarried. It was supposed to have been a fluke, when it happened again she had the implants removed and went back on the pill.
