pick me up
Oct. 7th, 2004 12:17 pmWhile waiting in the emergency room*, I read "Citizen Microsoft" and started on Reg's text for his Biology of Drugs class. It's far more of a sociological handbook, while of course there are discussions of methods of transmission and such. I got to the opiate section before a headache, oddly enough, caused me to cease and desist.
So the bit which I found kind of interesting was the origins of the FDA. In general I'm annoyed about the way prescription drugs go about in this country, but I'm not really sure how else to prevent thalidomide-type shit from going down.
"Basically, I figure guns are like gays: They seem a lot more sinister and threatening until you get to know a few; and once you have one in the house, you can get downright defensive about them."
* Reg's doctor is out of town. No real danger, no fears.
