I read The Transmigration of Timothy Archer, The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch, and Sean and David's Long Drive over the long weekend. The first one was a little too non-SF-y for my tastes, but I liked the second lots and lots. And the last one was brilliant, a couple of neurotic Gen-Xers driving around Australia for a month. So, yeah. I'm nearly out of Dick, though.

You've read The Short Happy Life of the Brown Oxford And Other Stories?

I haven't read any of his short stories. I can't see his paranoia translating as well into that medium.

Dude, I highly recommend the short stories, starting with the Brown Oxford collection.

I very much echo this sentiment. I like PKD's shorts much better than the novels. He was wired on speed on a lot of the novels and speed just couldn't last throughout the whole novel, whereas I can see him pounding out some of the short stories in a speed-induced tear.

It worked just fine at scaring the ho-hos out of me.
