the double bus
Jun. 2nd, 2004 07:55 amMost people know that one waits for a bus until it comes, but occasionally the phenomenon I call "the double bus" will occur. That is, you wait for a bus, but some twist of timing or dumb luck insures that about twenty people are also waiting, because the bus is so late that it just barely beats the next one. So you've got two buses waiting in a line and people are puzzled as to which one to go to.
Now this is what most call a double bus. But if you have the misfortune that I do, you get the double bus every day. My personal bus stop goes downtown and has a blinking marquee brightly announcing the next arrival. Usually it's something like "2 & 7 MINUTES", but every single day around 7:30 or so, including this one, you'll see something more like "NEXT ARRIVAL", "6 & 6 MINUTES". I try to catch the earlier bus b/c of this regular occurrence, but today I woke up on time with a ferocious headache and slept in a bit late.
Anyway the point of this is the headache, the cold sore and the double bus broke my wall of sanity, but writing this put it back.
