Hm. I don't care that much about gay marriage. I mean, yeah sure fine whatever, I just think marriage in the civil sense is a bit retarded and makes tax prep annoying. Although if I can use it to marry a foreigner and get rich quick, that sounds fine to me.

I also don't care much about Mel Gibson and his bloody movie. I may watch Last Temptation though. I mean, I hate religion, but in a fairly passive way. I'm not firebombing theaters and all that, I mean.

And basically like all other good under-30-somethings, I'm on the "anyone but Bush" bandwagon, but as I live in WA it doesn't really matter. I'll still vote in November, probably, but my vote won't count, so I may go third party again. I've never voted in a presidential election for a Dem or Repub. Well whatever.

Last Temptation of christ was a bit of yawnfest. Once you got past all the contraversy that surrounded it at the time of its release, it wasn't all that great of a movie. I get sucked into movies pretty easily, but that one could barely hold my attention.

My best friend from college and her partner are having to spend more than $20,000 on adoption costs because they can't legally marry. Recognize privilege even if you don't choose to take advantage of it.

So far

The most coherent and intelligent view I've recieved on gay marriage came from a lawyer who said it was "largely unnecessary."

But how do you feel about the Wendy's Spicy Bacon-Ranch chicken sandwich?

So true, so true. Both parties are identical in their motives for getting into office; they want to line the pockets of the people that paid the tab to get them there in the first place. Whether it be big business on the side of the Republicans, or unions and other special interest groups on the side of the Democrats. The candidates will tell the people whatever they want to hear, just like you said.

What really woke me up from burying my head in the sand recently was Greenspan's speech to congress on Social Security/Medicare. His suggestion to cut back on SSI benefits was not so much focused on saving Social Security as on saving the US Dollar and thus the US economy. Long term US bonds are starting to look like parakeet cage liners to the foreign governments who are holding billions and billions of dollars worth of them. If we don't do something to raise long term revenue and stop the downward spiral of the dollar we could have a run on those bonds as Asian countries cash them in all at once in the hopes of getting something now instead of nothing 10-20 years from now. Cutting SSI was just one option. The others involve raising taxes or cutting out Federal programs entirely. Of course there is the option to end Corporate "Welfare", but that's never going to happen since it's those same Corporations that own most all of our politicians.

I'm beginning to think there really is no hope for our country at all. I don't see us doing anything to stop the upcoming crises until it's too late. No one wants to hear the truth. Not even people who have the facts right in front of them. I think it's time to immigrate. Better to do it now instead of waiting to become a "refugee".

Gay marriage would rock. The more people marry, the more they will divorce, showing that marrige isn't as sacred as we like to think. Want to sanctify marriage? Oultlaw divorce.

As for your vote not counting...you saw that commercial on MTV, I'm sure, about how it came down to less than 600 votes in Florida, and only half a milion nationwide.

Here's the only reason I think my vote wouldn't count- htp//www.blackboxvoting.org

Are Germans allowed to join the "anyone but bush" bandwagon too? I would like to support your journey, at least in the ideational (found non better word) way.

Fine! Then you surely won't mind if I put you on my friends list (or is it friends' list or friend's list, I always forget, sorry).
Anyway, in my opinion sharing an Anti-Bush attitude with you is a good reason for a certain friendship...
