after reading most of this last night, i totally wanna go to kmart and make tea out of dried opium poppies.

it was all rather disturbing, actually, and I'm not sure why. i'm just easily disturbed. for some reason the soviet spy shit bothered me a lot. i guess because glasnost was right around when I started noticing stuff, and then we started seeing how Russia couldn't possibly be a threat and all. but hey guess what! it was totally, big time. Any book that lists Jim Marrs as a credible "expert" on conspiracy theories surrounding the Kennedy Assassination becomes instantly suspect in my eyes.

That's this best part of the book.

It's just as riddled with lies as it accuses the mainstream of being.

Well, then it throws every other expert in the book into a dimmer light. I'm a longtime fan of Thomas Szasz, for instance, who has an essay in this collection (or maybe its sequel; I forget), but what does it do for his credibility when he's lumped in with whacko Jim Marrs?

All of those Disinfo (http://www.disinfo.com/site/) books are highly dubious. However, they do tell you up front what you are getting. (http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?book=Dictionary&va=disinformation) Considering the circles Richard Metzger (http://www.indexmagazine.com/interviews/richard_metzger.shtml) hangs out with (http://www.genesisp-orridge.com/) I would take such things with a grain of salt. I would also say, GO TEAM! (http://www.firethistime.org/)

You've got me thinking about buying that book, and I normally write all that disinfo stuff off as paranoid ramblings. Still, might be interesting. As for the dried poppies, I discovered a good source for extra large, "decorative" poppies about 6 months ago. My sweetheart, Michelle, has been ordering from them pretty regulary and raves about the quality of the product. If you are looking for a source other than K-mart e-mail me :).
