frisco part two
Oct. 28th, 2003 02:27 pm(Maer asked me to mention my orgasmo-thinger smartdrink at the oxygen bar. It didn't really do anything at the time, but the next morning, oh man. Gah. And later.)
So we woke up a little early due to Daylight Savings, and had breakfast. I called Steve to see what was up, and then we went to El Cerrito's fine Targhey. Mainly just sitting around talking to Joanie while Maer and Matt prepped for Sunday night.
We took off to go to Golden Gate Park's Tea Garden. Called Steve. He was like "Oh, I thought you'd already gone." I wasn't sure what difference it made, since he was still with his date either way. We got sammiches and I had a diet Coke and got caffed out of my skull. I'd already had a cup of coffee and a cup of tea, neither of which seemed to affect me, but throw in the diet coke and I was hot to trot.
So we drove into the Tea Garden, parked and wandered around. It was actually kind of cool in the shade (92 degrees in the sunlight) and quite pretty. I mean it's a standard Japanese garden thing, they have them all up and down the west coast, but this one had a tea house with cute Japanese serving girls. And free fortune cookies. We all snickered at "You will make time for self-improvement." Steve called right as we were getting ready to leave, and we decided to meet at this bar on Haight.
The bar ended up being closed, though, so we went to Toronado's for beer. Steve and I decided to meet
jette and her man at the beach, and so, we did. It was gorgeous as anything, and a real beach (the "beaches" in seattle are all rock, not sand) with um, real children and dogs. (We'd just told Maer that story.) But they stayed quiet and/or far away so I didn't really care. It was pleasant and we all chatted till the sun went down.
We then hit a small mexican place, Pancho's. I wasn't overly impressed (Gordito's is about as good) but the homemade corn tortillas made it completely worthwhile. And the pico de gallo was the best I'd had in ages.
After that we headed back to the Park and the Planetarium. We had to turn around five times or so before we found the actual planetarium, but we made it and Steve got to say "HI" to everyone he hadn't seen the previous day. Chewed out John for leaving that message on his phone. Et cetera. We found seats and
toastednut, and sat back and relaxed for the ambients. And it was nice. Well, I tried not to hurt my neck, and it was amazingly hot for some reason, and I felt sort of depressed during the first set. The second set, though, that all went away and I just, um, well ok, I started seeing sexual positions in the constellations. And it seemed cooler and I fell asleep for part of it.
Afterwards we volunteered to drive Liz home, and Steve checked email and we drooled over her apartment and furniture. It's a one-bedroom but it's the biggest one I've ever really hung out in. Definitely bigger than any I've lived in. Steve and I decided we were in the wrong business. Oh well. We drove home and watched Adult Swim then attempted to sleep. Steve snores though. We got up at Five AM and made our way to the rental car place then the airport and had smoothies before getting on the plane. And that was that.
