- my computer at work started to shit all over itself, which just killed my morning. Fortunately the alleve and tea seem to be doing the trick. Screw soda* forever.

+ steve bought me a latte to compensate for my caffeine crash, and then we went to the bookstore, where he bought a lot of books.

- I'm really nonplussed by the new trend of "light fiction" - it all looks like Bridget Jones' Diary + internet, or girls trying to sleep with rockstars... I dunno, I always think plots are stupid, and I guess my life is just actually interesting now. Actually, what I said was that every single person we know is pretty much a caricature, so knowing them is more interesting than reading a book "based on" them.

+ the weather. oh my god, the weather. 60 and drizzly, leaves are changing, i'm drinking hot tea and i'm madly in love with seattle again. the summer i adore, but the autumn is sublime. it crawls up under your skin and just when you least expect it, burns into your brain. I'm even wearing sandals it feels so good. the rain makes everything look so clear, colors so bright, as I seem to walk through a cloud.

- let's not even talk about my social/personal life. Completely in shambles. I think more will be revealed in a FO post.

stuff that people read on airplanes, that isn't mysteries and will be forgotten in 20 years. I hate to say Bridget Jones, but, well, yeah.

Another good example: Why Girls Are Weird (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0743469801/002-1585408-7104005?v=glance)

I bought this as a spur of the moment choice while at B&N one night. It wasn't all that spectacular. I have Bridget Jones as well, but I like that one. Maybe it's because I saw the movie first, though.

Amen sistah.

Sandals and sweatshirts... ahhh...

My sweaters have been haunting my skin for the past 3 months. I cannot wait until the leaves turn.

Try Geek Love by Katherine Dunn. It's seriously warped, and great writing. The woman has a real talent. By my reckoning, it's "light fiction", though (seriously) I don't tend to read things that most people would call "light" (if they understand it).

Maybe you're just reading the wrong "light fiction".

i don't actually READ it

Ahh, a fan of light fiction in second-hand form. That works.
