It was no xXx, but then again, it was no xXx. Meaning it wasn't really action-heavy, but it wasn't really fucking stupid either. If it had had more of Samuel L. Jackson saying "motherfucker" and kicking ass, it would have been really enjoyable. I mean, violence and drugs and bathtub sex are fucking righteous. And Americans driving on the wrong side of the road in Liverpool. I also wanted some more actual Liverpudlians, since I love that accent.

Skinny Legs and All

Wow, what a great fucking novel. It was preachy in parts but you didn't mind at all. I mean it wasn't ever really overt, just sort of in asides. I don't usually like it when authors come right out and say stuff directly, but he managed to pull it off. And besides that it's just a really amusing and interesting story, well, two plots, anyway, the people and the inanimate objects. I did find the "what is art" debate a lot more interesting than the "religion is stupid" bits, just because, well, duh. I didn't mind so much when the characters were debating religion, but when the author comes right out and says stuff, it's a little "preachy." But again, not overly, coulda been worse. And the setup for it was pretty good. I got all suckered in, man. Not that I'm complaining.

OMIGAWD!! this is the first time i've read or heard about anyone seeing FORMULA 51. is it out on video yet? i did post audio work for several months on this movie. it was my very first non-independent contract so it will always have a place in my heart, no matter how bad it may be. i have a lot of stories to tell. my favourite is the one where i had to write TV lines for all the offensive words. i made Samuel L Jackson say "mustard lover"! and Robert Carlyle had about 300 TV lines to shoot for. that should teach him for taking potty mouthed roles. poor guy.

if it weren't for the skinheads, Samuel would not be able to have access to a lab to make some drugs. and that shit scene would never have occurred!
