lauralhI was thinking about going to the gym today, but I went to the supermarket instead. Bought yummy bread and pork chops. I've been in a cooking mood lately - or rather, a saving-money-by-cooking mood. Plus it makes Steve more likely to buy me drinks when I make him dinner. I made jambalaya from scratch last week and chicken Parmesan yesterday. Next on the list is ginger pork stirfry.
And then I went for a walk so I didn't feel totally scuzzy about skipping the gym. Our neighborhood is full of flowers and roses. I am enamored of the perfumed paths on either side of the street. Half tempted to steal some and make a bouquet. I actually did this a few weeks ago; one night I was having a clove and all pumped on nicotine, so I just went for it. I think I like flowers in my old age better because they're just more varied here. Also they don't start blooming till May or so, rather than March the way they do in the South.
When I got back from my walk, I started working on my novel again. Gah, it's so long. Right now what I'm doing basically is going through it chapter by chapter, searching for any inconsistencies and what not. I'm about halfway through. I had a diet cola afterwards, which was bad, as I'm all hyped up from caffeine. Still not sure if I'm going to Portland this weekend or not. I said I definitely would if I had a job by Friday, but every phone screen I've had in the past week has been a fuckin' bust, so there you go. "Why won't those stupid morons let me in their crappy club for jerks?"
