I guess one could say I have mixed feelings about the war on Iraq. On the one hand, I'm something of a pacifist. I kind of like violence as long as it doesn't result in literal death, or me getting hurt at all. (Whoever said "violence doesn't solve anything" didn't hit hard enough.) So anyway as long as we're honest about this Iraq business having to do with us not liking Saddam, and we try not so hard to kill Iraqis, that's nice. I'd be far more in favor of a sniper getting him than an all out invasion, but what can you do.

On the other hand, there's other things a little more pressing maybe. I try not to follow politics, but I hear that North Korea is kind of Evil or something. Saddam has kind of been on a leash for a while, and I guess I think he'll stay put a little while longer. I'm not going to pretend to even know the name of the North Korean leader, but that whole nuclear arsenal thing is a little scary. But hell, if they do have nukes, what can we do really to stop them? If you look at it that way, it makes more sense to go after a country that probably can't hurt us as badly. Or a leader (*cough*osama*cough*) that we kind of know where to find.

I personally don't think that reasons behind an act - or rather, intentions - matter so much as the act itself. I do think it's a good thing to get Saddam out of power, regardless of whether or not it's because the Bushes have a grudge against him or not. I sure don't like the attitude of the government being so bloodthirsty, but then I don't like the attitudes of the NRA or PETA either.

Kim Jong Il is the head honcho of North Korea.

I think our reasons for war involve oil and money, and I find it despicable that it's being presented as some "good vs evil" thing.

Maybe I'm not cynical enough (ha), but I don't think oil has as much to do with it as familial pride. I mean we pretty much make Iraq sell marked-down oil for food right now anyway.
