I feel compelled to tell a story by way of introducing myself:

i. A friend of mine is trying to convince me to move to Seattle with her this spring for one reason or another.

ii. While putting off doing work just now, I did an LJ region search for Seattle.

iii. I noticed "herbaliser," and thought the name sounded familiar, and looked and realized you were a friend of prosewitch.

iv. I looked at your journal, and saw a post about trying to find a job, which strongly reminded me that I'm about to graduate, and if I move to Seattle, I'd need a job.

iv.a. Of course, no matter what I do I'll need a job.

iv.b. I was also briefly confused by "Fremont," because not knowing there was a Fremont, WA, I thought you were talking about Fremont, CA, which is relatively close to Berkeley.

v. I tried to say hi in a comment.

Fremont is actually not a city in Washington, just one of the Seattle neighborhoods. Kind of like Cambridge in Boston (except you don't put it on your address that you live there). Within a two mile radius of my home, the neighborhoods include Wallingford, Phinney Ridge, Ballard and Greenlake.

Anyway the job market is tight right now, but sometimes it's easier for entry-level people to find work than people with skills that lock them down. I'm actually lucky in that I have no skills, er, that is, I have lots of them but I'm no good at any of them. Well, not that I'm bad, just not... great.

Asking Yahoo maps for Fremont, WA turned up something in/near Seattle, so it's "on the map" in some capacity somewhere.

Luckily, the University is letting me keep my job until May, so I've got awhile to figure things out. Of course, if I were reasonable I'd start looking in March or April, but I'll probably wait until I'm about ready to move, because that's just the way I am. Ha, maybe things will improve in 6 months. Ha.

Well you never know. I've only been seriously looking a month and I've had a few callbacks.
