study in blue
Nov. 20th, 2002 07:26 pmJust finished watching Impromptu, a rather charming period piece about the beginnings of the affair between Chopin (Hugh Grant) and Sand (Judy Davis). I never thought Judy Davis was all that, but she definitely has a remarkable voice. I thought she carried the role well.
And of course Hugh Grant was utter perfection. Sure he pretty much plays the same character all the time, but he's so good at it. Tis a pity he's now a popular commodity, because I've loved every period piece he's done. Although I admit that either period piece good-guys or current day villains are equally enjoyable when he plays them.
