in one of them I was a deposed king being kept alive in a dungeon, and my only hope was that my son was still being kept alive. But one day they ate him.

in another I was Buffy and the bad guys killed all my friends by putting plastic explosives in their food, and I had to keep leaving the house when they did so that they wouldn't burn it down and kill me...

and then i woke up again, and tried to get back to sleep, but I kept flashing back to an Orson Scott Card story I read once, in which these cannibalistic aliens take over a world. One man is 'the butcher' and hated by all people, because he carves up the population for the king. but he's actually a hero, because usually the aliens just eat everyone within a month instead of letting people live (albeit in pieces). but it was too much for my brain to take right now so i got up.
