Nasty, but not too bad. If you haven't already, get some triple antibiotic ointment on those, and for the one on your arm, use some light gauze -- 4" sponge gauze could work well, protecting the scrape, keeping the ointment on and allowing the bugger to breathe all at the same time. Get some 1"paper tape to hold it down; Nexcare's the best. Less scarring or dirt, yay! ;P

(Let's just say that I have to apply a lot of gauze, paper tape and various sterilizing/healing ointments, etc., these days. Not, however, to anything as mild as your scrapes. :/ )

I put some gauze on it yesterday but it just clotted and dried on it. And I didn't like that idea, so I ripped it off and took the picture, then put antibiotic and a big-ass bandaid on it.

i even bought some non-stick gauze and it still stuck, and then when you rip it off it rips off the wound and then it hurts even more and takes longer to heal. letting it breathe is the way to go!

Neosporin would make it go away like overnight, but you don't want to rush those beauties.

But if you do, use a Blue's Clues bad-aid...i've found that Neosporin works better when used in conjunction with a Blue's Clues band-aid.

unfortunately I had to cover up the arm one b/c if it touched my sweater I wanted to die. if it's warmer tomorrow I'll let it breathe though. The palm is already looking a little better after breathing all day.

Ah. There's also "non-stick gauze" as well (I've perused the aisles... ;P) -- as long as you're pursuing fitness in the open air and on the ground (as opposed to in the gym or a pool), you might want to have some on hand. I know I should be if I ever get my ass in gear again.

I'm surprised that the antibiotic stuff allowed it to dry on, though. It usually helps me stick on the gauze, but it's a pain in the ass to get the paper tape to stick if that grease gets too far afield. Blargh.

I suppose I didn't smear on enough. I just used whatever we had in the housemates' REI first-aid kit, as far as gauze goes. There was only one non-stick gauze pad and I used it in the shower, which was dumb I guess, b/c I had to replace it with the other kind.

The other thing I neglected to mention was that I was not wearing glasses or contacts during this event. And I'm nearsighted to the tune of -3.5 ...

Heh... practice makes perfect, right? ;P

As for the antibiotic glop, you have to be generous with large areas. On zits and cat scratches, a dab'll do ya, but it just seems like big scrapes... well, they suck up goop. :/

You've got better eyesight than I do. I'm at -5.75 in the left eye, and -6.25 in the right. One of my housemates in college was around -10 or -11. She was legally blind without corrective lenses; I merely can't see the "E" at the top of the chart. ;P
