full-on report
Sep. 8th, 2002 04:00 pmThe past week I'd just been staying in, trying to conserve at least a little money (as well as not drinking). But when the weekend comes, that all ends.
Friday night I stayed at work in "hopes" that our tester would give the last build more than a cursory examination, but when he left, I left. It was almost 8pm anyway. I tore outta there and got home in about fifteen minutes flat. I fixed myself a drink and waited for
agentcooper to get there. Chasing Amy was on Oxygen, which is funny because they cut out all the dirty words but nothing at all else, and it was all so so obvious. Just like a cursory nod to the censors. And then we watched The Monster and then we watched Bound and drank too much and then it was 3am, so I drove him home.
Saturday I woke up with a bit of a headache. Attempted to call Joel but the reception in my room is so terrible it didn't really happen. Tried to call him back from another room, but no dice. So I showered and walked to the little grocery store down the way to buy some vegetables for dinner later. Got back and finished reading A Scanner Darkly then started on Ecstasy Club. These little distractions worked wonders for my emotional well-being. I need little tricks like that to prevent from breaking down crying, I guess.
I debated between staying home and going to a party I was invited to, but I didn't really want to go by myself and Steve and Erik both had other plans. Fortunately Steve included me in his plans, which involved going to some Brazilian chick's birthday party at Barca. We met up with the Romanians there as well, and around one-thirty left for the Contour. Where I drank a little too much (Steve bought me a shot), freak-danced with each of the Romanians' dates (and some random big-breasted chick), made out with one of the former, and flirted with a Hugh Grant-not-quite-look-alike.
Anyway we didn't get home till nearly four, and I had to bring my other housemate to the airport this morning (funeral at home, alas). He pounded on my door at like 10am, which was not the best thing in the world for my brain. So I brought him out, and debated going to back to sleep afterwards but decided against it. What I really wanted was breakfast and coffee, but I don't think I'm emotionally stable enough to do that alone. (Joel and I used to go to a different diner every single weekend for breakfast.)
Anyway it was a bit later than I'd wanted, but Steve and I finally went out to the Varsity Inn. My god but they have the best pancakes on the west side. Well, OK, Glo's are better but the wait is infinite.
I think I've got enough coffee to stay awake all day. And I also got a free pass to Stealing Harvard. OK, it looks terrible but it has Tom Green and Jason Lee dammit. If anyone in the Seattle area is interested, let me know, it's a 2-person pass.
edit: the position has been filled. :)
