lauralhThere was this whole big thing this week at work where we switched domains, and so naturally our Windows machines created new profiles. So they tried to migrate the old profile info into the new one, and on my machine they had trouble doing this. I suppose filling up the hard drives with twelve gigs of MP3s wasn't such a great idea after all. It seemed like it at the time; I've had them up for about four months, after all. But they basically told me in no uncertain terms that this was a pretty egregious abuse of company disk space.
So they gently suggested I get a USB hard drive. I suppose as a independent contractor I can just expense it at tax time - just like I'm gonna do for gas money - so I got one. It's bigger than every one of my hard drives (at work + at home) put together, too. I'll probably be able to fit every single legal song I own on it, as well as the illegal ones, for the next three years or so. (I only have 25 backup CDs burnt right now.) Of course I may have to buy a USB2.0 card to be able to use it more efficiently, but on the other hand that seems a bit excessive. On the other hand they're only $20... hmmm...
