This is the band I couldn't see [because of Karaoke], they are really kinda cool. I guess I'd say they're like a cross between the Smithereens and the Strokes, if that makes any sense.
The Prom - Under the Same Stars
This is the band that I missed Tuesday night, argh. But they have a piano, so some of their stuff is dreamy like the Cocteau Twins and some of it is a bit more Ben Folds with a Modest Mouse sensibility.
Rosie Thomas - When We Were Small
So Joel's friend Meg, who works for the Stranger, went to a music school for a couple of years before dropping out. Anyway this chick was in some of her classes, and now she like has a record and shit. She's talented but it's on the folksy side.
Mates of State - Our Constant Concern
This is a dude and a chick singing, very little guitar noise, just melodies with them singing over it. But in an alt-rock sort of way. I only listened to the "singles" the first time but I really really like them a lot.
Rachel's - Music for Egon Schiele
I had one of the mp3's for ages thx to backwashers, so I finally saw this album for under $17 (which is what I usually see it going for). The songs are all kind of like Second Self Portrait, but the eerie thing is that I read a crappy book recently (The Tomorrow File) which referenced this painter. Remind me and I'll send you the description of his works. Or you can look it up yourself, heh.
American Analog Set - Updates
This is a remix album, and they're like a slowcore/space rock band, so it's all kinda IDM on weed sounding. But I like it, it's awesome background noise at worst.
