It's much more like spring today than it was on the first day of spring. I wish I knew more about the foliage here - I know pine and oak from home, but that's about it. Maple? Are those the trees with the leaves like Canadian flags? I guess so.

By Microsoft a few trees are flowering (because of the warmth from the Hellmouth, I suppose), with pretty little tiny purple flowers. Cherry blossoms? Perhaps. It gives a nice tinge to the grey landscape, anyway. Don't get me wrong, I like the grey landscape, but by late March I tire of winter. Where I grew up, people started suntanning in March. But I like the weather here better, it's less humid.

I had many mistaken ideas about weather patterns because of where I grew up. Mainly I thought that water caused humidity - that is, the Gulf/ocean. But no, it was actually the swamp. I didn't really figure this out till I went to Pensacola, and the 100 degree heat actually didn't feel all that bad. Of course now I've fully adapted to Seattle weather, to the point that I think dry cold is worse than wet cold.
