So Reg's parents rented us a truck on 12/10 and we took 2 loads back and forth (as well as carloads) that day. The bed was gross, though, and they bought us a new one that arrived that very Monday. Reg's mom also helped clean up the old place quite a bit, which was decent of them. Doubt it'll make a difference with the security deposit, since they have to paint anyway (we'd lived there 7 years). But God, I hate moving. It makes me want to throw everything away. Although it was kind of fun to look at stuff I hadn't touched in years, all my old college essays and French papers and fiction writing all the way back from when I was 14.
But we definitely needed every day from the 10th to the 15th to clean out the old place, since I had work and all. Ugh, it was so awful, carrying boxes and cleaning almost every day, and then at the new place, putting things in order and unpacking. We had a few people help us at least, and Reg's parents were great about everything. The last thing they bought us was new shelves, which we put together this past weekend.
For Xmas I got an immersion blender (among a few other things), so I've been going mad making smoothies. What's funny is I only thought of wanting it on the 15th, when I was making a soup, and I thought how much nicer it would taste if it was smooth. So I told Reg, who told his mom, who went to W&S, and voila. Basically the proportions are 2 fruit: 2 yogurt: 1 banana: 1 liquid. Although I add in a few frozen grapes if it's too bland, and more banana if it's too sour/strong. The liquid could be crushed ice or milk or juice. We pretty much lived on them over the weekend. I guess it's sort of like South Beach without the steaks.
Well, that's pretty much it. Living in Bellevue is not very different from living in Ballard, though, except that it's really really hilly, and I don't think there's a farmer's market every Sunday. But Reg walks to work through the downtown park, and the shops and restaurants are everywhere, and we're right by the "old" part of Bellevue, which is very similar to Ballard Ave with the mix of old and new. We tried out the closest Mexican joint, Cocina del Puerco or something, and it was really good. Just thinking of those carnitas, mmm. I think that's the last time I had meat, even. Maybe after I finish this smoothie I'll run out and get a to-go box.
