Apr. 2nd, 2010 02:56 pmI had a headache two days ago and then it came back yesterday, I think cos I hadn't had enough water, and I was reading on the bus. I dunno though. It stayed with me till around 11pm or so. Which sucked cos I had my birthday dinner with Reg's parents finally. I'd put it off because last week I didn't get home in time for the first schedule. Anyway, we went to the Melting Pot and it was awesome. That place amuses me because it was actually the first restaurant I went to with my old college buds Ana and Fara. And then Nick and I went there a lot when we both still lived there. So I am very familiar with it, and when the servers ask if we've been there befor I'm all HELL YES.
Anyway so we had the classic Swiss fondue to start, and some salads - I had the "special" asian lettuce wrap salad, Reg and his da had Caesars, and Reg's mom got the "California" salad, which is a modified version of my old favorite, the gorgonzola-walnut salad with raspberry vinagrette. (Or maybe it's exactly the same. I can't recall, Reg and I have only been there for a full meal once since we met in 2003. So before that the last time I went was with Nick in 2001, I suspect, or even maybe 2000.)
They'd changed the classic/traditional entree to include more seafood, so I picked one that only had one kind of seafood, the Pacific Rim. It was pork and chicken and duck and teriyaki beef and potstickers and shrimp! Fuck yeah. I ate so much meat that I had to skip dessert, and I think I might have to go get dessert there some other time soon.
So apart from the headache it was rad, they gave me some birthday money and we hugged and waddled off.
