The idea is you look up the year you were born in wikipedia and under music find the albums that were released that year. Then list the albums that you would, or do listen to now...

So, I present to you, the cool albums of 1977:

Meatloaf - Bat Out of Hell
Blondie - Blondie
David Bowie - Low
ELO - Out of the Blue
Fleetwood Mac - Rumors

This was also the year "Solsbury Hill" came out. hahahah.

not very many albums listed, but there's a lot of Alice Cooper, Styx and Yes apparently.

1999 - Prince
Oh No!, It's Devo - Devo
Thriller - Michael Jackson

wooo.

I found some other stuff interesting:
January 20 - Ozzy Osbourne bites the head off a live bat thrown at him during a performance. Osbourne is hospitalized with rabies.
January 21 - B.B. King donates his personal record collection, which includes nearly 7,000 rare blues records, to the University of Mississippi's Center for the Study of Southern Culture.
February 13 - A 300 pound (136 kg) gravestone from the grave of Lynyrd Skynyrd singer Ronnie Van Zant is stolen from an Orange Park, Florida cemetery. Police found the gravestone 2 weeks later in a dry river bed.
August 17 - In Langenhagen near Hanover, Germany began the first mass production of the compact disc.
September 7 - The musical Cats begins its 18 year run on Broadway

Them bands are a little too new-fangled for me. I own:

Ella Fitzgerald - Montreux '77 [plus nearly all of the rest of the concert]
Bob Marley - Exodus
Grateful Dead - Terrapin Station (maybe)

I would listen to the Sex Pistols and Skynyrd (bloody yeeHa!).

That's about it... I've (so shameful) got some of that Crapton album around...and (even more shameful), oh no, I think I have Steely Dan's Aja on vinyl (it was free, I think, I hope).

And, wow, there was a lot of lousy music released that year -- and the 80s hadn't even started yet! The list is mostly rock/pop, though.
