Hell, it makes the presidency pretty attractive. You only get paid $200k per year - but you get your own private jet, free lodging at a huge mansion in D.C., and 10 months of vacation time per year. Previously the only other thing that stopped me from running was my lack of public speaking skills, but apparently that can be learned as part of on-the-job training. Not so bad.

If I were president, and I could do as much or more productuve "president" work in Gig Harbor, Washington -- as I could do in that godforsaken pit that is Washington DC -- I would spend any time in DC either.

I don't blame anyone for leaving DC, and I really doubt it lowers any President's productivity to leave. I think it's foolish to call it a "vacation". The Presidency is a 24/7 job and there are no vacations -- unless you are superb at delegating.

Mandatory vacation is too French a concept for him to run with. It also goes against the conservative mindset by offering equality. It would have to be mandatory vacation for people who don't need it, or for white people only, or something like that.
