So the women's slalom winner last night, chubby Swedish girl whose ancestors used to pick up cows and move them to different fields, was pretty amusing. If you missed it she did a penguin belly flop when they announced her gold medal, and then during the replay the fucking commentators mentioned her eating some of the snow. "It's the taste of victory." Which made me want to stab them in the gut, but what can you do.

Has anyone ever used melatonin and had it work? I mean, I have, but only if I actually go to bed within 30 minutes. Although at this point in my life I can almost always lie down and convince myself to fall asleep. But in the past taking it, there was a window which, if I missed it, meant I was not falling asleep anytime soon.

A girl with whom I work says it's the only thing that works for her. She has a lot of severe migranes (so much that she regularly sees a neurologist) which she treats with serious painkillers all the time, and accordingly, they no longer have a sedative effect.

Melatonin knocks me out so hard it gives me sleep paralysis in the morning (though I'm a little prone to it anyway). It's awesome, I've never had better sleep, just can't have to work in the morning. I've talked to people that it doesn't do anything for, though. Dunno.

melatonin didn't really work for me...in fact I found it hard to sleep, and I felt like I was high all night. Nauseous and weird. Not fun. But my boyfriend will swear by it! so there. heh.

I've been taking melatonin for the past month or so. It's been effective for allowing me to fall asleep when I try, which I've always found nearly impossible if I'm not completely exhausted. If I take it and then get distracted I don't notice any effects, but I'm still able to sleep easier when I actually lie down.

The strangest thing has definitely been that it makes my dreams more vivid and generally more nightmarish. I looked for information on this after experiencing uncharacteristically dark dreams several nights in a row after starting to take the supplement and sure enough it's a fairly well-documented side effect. It hasn't really bothered me, but I might stop taking the stuff when my sleep schedule becomes more regular.

I've never really noticed any effect from taking melatonin, certainly nothing to warrant the fabulous buzz that it had at the time that I first started dabbling. Ended up trading it for Tylenol PM.
