enough for now

I filed for unemployment, created a new Monster account (since my old one had a defunct email) and sent my updated resume to a couple of jobs. I don't actually want a job quite yet, and I'm also wary about this time of year anyway. Although it looks like that old curse may be lifted, we'll see. I've also sent my updated resume to my Corestaff recruiter. She's the Amazon person and I can't work there for 90 days but she said she'd forward it on.

Yesterday I watched The Hotel New Hampshire and Love Etc. The former is based on Irving's novel - compressed into just under two hours with very broad strokes. The latter I think is also based on a novel but it was sort of lame. Guy falls in love with his best friend's new wife and she's all "No, no" at first and then without much warning "yes, yes." I dunno, the French are weird.

And now to the Bond matinee.

sleeping in an empty bed

I'm not really a big caffeine drinker, although I do usually have a single cuppa or Diet Pepsi per day. However, as Reg decided to come over just as I was falling asleep last night, yadda yadda yadda, I came in to work late and had a big cup of coffee. It's quite lovely how you burst out the other end of clarity when you drink that shit.

So I had to make a lot of copies yesterday, so I was busy thinking. Lots of thinking. Although it was mainly just reflection. Even though I wasn't actually thinking about my novel, the simple process of thought put me in a good mood to work on it later. Broke past 23K last night, yay. Will try to work more on that, apply for jobs, and finish my income tax tonight.

he keeps 3mill in his shoes

I am in scandal heaven with the MJ crap. Life is worth living again.

It snowed this morning and my car defogger sucks so bad that I was terrified driving to work unable to see. Although, hot tip, pantyhose wiped across the inside of your windshield gets rid of most of the water. Anyway I was pumped on adrenaline when I got to work.

My interview has been postponed till next week, so I think I may have to go out tonight. Although I'm not getting paid for TG off so maybe I shouldn't.

job search bs

I hadn't checked my email for that stuff all week, so I went for it. Quite a few mails, and even a couple of positions that didn't require seven (SEVEN!!) years of experience in the industry. And then I went through Monster.com and applied to almost every job even saying "BS in Computer Science required," since that's why I got that damned thing, right? To get jobs? Finally I went to Volt and put my resume up there. I actually worked with them before, when I was first thinking of moving out here, but nothing ever surfaced. They mainly, as I recall, tried to put me in contract positions doing testing at MS, but everyone I interviewed with said I just wasn't experienced enough, despite knowing my shit. Ah well. I got more experience and an MCSD now baby. Of course there's also this damn non-recession.

And then of course watching The Royal Tenenbaums totally made me want to get into script writing again, but last night I sort of passed out around 10:30 so that was a washout. Oh well.
