resolved: the outdoors is too cold or hot, too damp or dry, and has too many bugs and dirt

I haven't gone camping in a tent since I was like, 12. What do I need?

edit: If you aren't going to be helpful, you could at least be actually funny.

Is being dehydrated while camping all that cool?

I was thinking that psychedelics might be good, though.

[identity profile] mattholland.livejournal.com 2004-05-13 11:04 am (UTC)(link)
oh yeah, lots of water too

bring enough padding (like blankets or pillows, but preferably an air mattress if you have one) to put under your sleeping bag so you're actually comfortable at night. One blanket under your bag won't cut it. This is the most important thing of all!

Also a flashlight you don't have to share with anyone.

cooler, ice, bottle opener, corkscrew, gravity bong.

Uhm, really really good toilet paper and lots of it.

[identity profile] ernunnos.livejournal.com 2004-05-13 12:32 pm (UTC)(link)
trash bags, paper towels and a washcloth (staying clean outdoors is hard), ziplock bags if you're taking any food that's not single serving, a GOOD sleeping bag and a cheap waffle foam sleep pad (far better and more covenient than any inflatable), lots of water, bug spray, sunscreen, sunglasses/hat, extra socks & underwear, a set of real eating utensils (plastic sucks).

that's all you should need if you're not in charge of cooking or shelter.

if you're going to cook, a cast iron skillet if youre going to do it on a campfire, a coffee pot, and some good coffee. if you cant have a fire a MSR stove is good. i'm a big fan of single wall tents and the eureka exo 3 is my current cheap fave.

awesome

The boy has been a million times and has plenty of Equipment, so this is pretty much more what I needed.

Are you car camping (driving directly to site) or hiking in? You don't need as much to car camp.

[identity profile] herbaliser.livejournal.com 2004-05-13 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
good question.

[identity profile] almosttruth.livejournal.com 2004-05-13 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
all you need is a tent, booze and another body to steal heat from. this of course will likely lead to sex. this also happens to be the final ingredient needed for a successful camping trip.

[identity profile] almosttruth.livejournal.com 2004-05-14 10:28 am (UTC)(link)
that would be the other body that i spoke of before. booze is liquid food, is it not? : ]

camping

If you won't have access to running water, try not to be menstruating. camping and bleeding is Teh Gross.

[identity profile] velvet.livejournal.com 2004-05-14 09:15 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, do not menstruate in my sleeping bags plz.
