another music post *sorta*

I don't believe in unconditional love. To me loving someone without any conditions at all is similar to liking a band or um say director even after they "sold out." On the one hand, I don't actually believe in selling out per se, unless you happen to be Liz Phair or Weezer*. On the other hand, your fans are the reason you have any money at all, and they like what you produce, so don't change dammit. Granted sometimes you already liked the style they changed into, like when U2 got all techno-ish, so it's no big deal. But there's very few bands or people that are so great that no matter what genre they touch, it's golden.


*Or George Lucas.

I understand what you're saying. I guess that's where we differ in our love for Morrissey though, because even if his techno or reggae efforts did suck, hell if I'd ever admit it.
