Not that I hated all late-90s music, but looking at this list made me grin, then cringe, repeat.

this just reinforces my theory that pop music diverged enough around then that there's no real defining genre of the 90's music scene. grunge was pretty much dead by 1994 and then came a slew of poor imitators making love to it's corpse, but for the rest of the decade it was pretty much whatever the record companies decided to throw at us.
