this just reinforces my theory that pop music diverged enough around then that there's no real defining genre of the 90's music scene. grunge was pretty much dead by 1994 and then came a slew of poor imitators making love to it's corpse, but for the rest of the decade it was pretty much whatever the record companies decided to throw at us.

oh true, but good or bad, the 70s had funk and disco, the 80s had new wave, the 90s had...?

I think it was at least a decade between when I first heard the techno remix of "What's Up" and the original.

god, I wish I'd never heard the original. constantly. every day in 1992. every. single. fucking. day. It's one of those songs I can't think of without seeing my fat gym partners.

We can't hear a word you saiiiiid

Damn, the 90s were awesome. The lulz of "I Believe I Can Fly." The quirkiness of "She Don't Use Jelly." The rawk of "Slack Motherfucker." The unimpeachable gayness of "Livin' La Vida Loca." It's all there.

I DISAGREE WITH YOU!

Dude I love Bran Van 3000. They're fucking awesome. And I liked a lot of late 90's music.
