this just reinforces my theory that pop music diverged enough around then that there's no real defining genre of the 90's music scene. grunge was pretty much dead by 1994 and then came a slew of poor imitators making love to it's corpse, but for the rest of the decade it was pretty much whatever the record companies decided to throw at us.

Damn, the 90s were awesome. The lulz of "I Believe I Can Fly." The quirkiness of "She Don't Use Jelly." The rawk of "Slack Motherfucker." The unimpeachable gayness of "Livin' La Vida Loca." It's all there.

Dude I love Bran Van 3000. They're fucking awesome. And I liked a lot of late 90's music.
