i like lists

Well, not really, I was just having an epiphany the other day about how hard it is to find guys who like to read, watch movies, and listen to music. Insert (good) as necessary. Execrable tastes don't count. Or rather, it's ok to like bad movies but guys who prefer bad movies piss me off. I have my guilty pleasures too, but I admit that liking them has nothing to do with taste.

Anyway so along with the "dating rules" I've made a "boyfriend rules" thing. In case you were wondering.

edit:
Is this thing like totally Trogdor or what?

I really don't think you are asking for too much.
You want someone who is well-rounded, isn't an emotional cripple and has a few similar interests. (that counts far more often then people think)

One shouldn't have to compromise themselves to such a degree that they end up unhappy.
I think the women of the baby boom generation are a fine example of that.

I think you are the first person I have known that has heard of Beulah.

It does look like a pretty beefy arm coming out of the neck there.

haha :D

ugh I'm a dork

He's right, that IS a pretty beefy arm.

Pretty fair rules

[personal profile] ewen 2003-09-07 03:09 pm (UTC)(link)
It looks like a not unreasonable set of rules to me.

Apart from the bus route thing. That's just harsh.

SEA-LAX-AKL-WEL plus two buses. Two buses. That's better than one, right?

And it's a nice country.

ha. ha. ha.

[identity profile] patrick.livejournal.com 2003-09-07 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
What's that quote from High Fidelity? um.. oh yea.
"It's what you like, not what you are like that's important."

[identity profile] herbaliser.livejournal.com 2003-09-07 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
um that's totally not what I am saying

[identity profile] patrick.livejournal.com 2003-09-07 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, you were saying much more then that, but there was the part of it that just reminded me of that line.

There's no accounting for taste.

[identity profile] mdthomas.livejournal.com 2003-09-07 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure what you mean by "I have my guilty pleasures too, but I admit that liking them has nothing to do with taste."

Taste means, among other things, a personal preference or liking. So your guilty pleasures are a matter of taste.

Maybe you meant that your guilty pleasures don't indicate that you lack taste in one of its other senses, the faculty of discerning what is aesthetically excellent or appropriate.

What did you mean?

Also, to answer the inevitable, "Who in the hell are you?" I saw a comment you made to one of [livejournal.com profile] trembyle's posts (http://www.livejournal.com/users/trembyle/109362.html), and in a fit of schoolwork-related procrastination, I looked at your journal. And I've been really puzzled by your taste comment since, so I felt compelled to ask you about it.

insert "good taste" then

Is this thing like totally Trogdor or what?

The sight of Angelina Jolie burninates my pupils.

I like number six. I have this (http://www.angryflower.com/aposter.html) up in my bathroom -- maybe you should too.

[identity profile] herbaliser.livejournal.com 2003-09-07 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
didn't we have the bob the angry flower discussion?

[identity profile] endquote.livejournal.com 2003-09-07 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think so? I think I'm the only one I know that actually reads it.

dude, check the userinfo

[identity profile] herbaliser.livejournal.com 2003-09-07 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I was obsessed with it for a while and drove steve crazy sending him comics.

I've also matched the Aqua Teen Hunger Force characters to the Bob the Angry Flower characters.

Regarding the first sentence: Oh, rad. Shows what I know.

Regarding the second: And video games are "too dorky" for you? Oook.

[identity profile] herbaliser.livejournal.com 2003-09-07 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Steve got me into it. He's completely obsessed with it, he has decided to start calling me Shake.

"I'm not a dork, really! It's all my roommate's fault!"

It's okay, there's nothing wrong with you. We love you just the way you are. You'll feel a lot better if you just come out about it.

what goes around comes around

[identity profile] herbaliser.livejournal.com 2003-09-08 08:57 am (UTC)(link)
I did the same thing to him with Friends and Buffy.

"Is that the episode where Ross has to save them"
"Yes."
"I HATE YOU."

Where's your flow chart and spread sheet?

Dating Rules (for men):

1. The other party has at least one warm orifice.

waiting for your boyfriend to read that

I didn't even write up my dating rules till [livejournal.com profile] hotcrab and [livejournal.com profile] jimbojones did.

how hard it is to find guys who like to read, watch movies, and listen to music.

really? wow, those things are so basic.

that's what I thought, too

[identity profile] herbaliser.livejournal.com 2003-09-11 09:48 am (UTC)(link)
Finding even that is hard enough, but people who actually ENJOY reading and watching movies is hard to do. And not to start a war but take the number of guys you know who are into good music, compared to the number of girls, just to put things in perspective.
