All you people who left LiveJournal for Facebook are lame. You're even more lame if you left LiveJournal for MySpace, and you're still sorta lame if you left LiveJournal for Twitter.

YOU INTERNET WHORES!

People now appear to also be leaving Facebook. I wonder where they are going next.

They'll become nomads.

[identity profile] eyelid.livejournal.com 2010-06-04 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)

Huddling for shelter beneath any shred of data they can find, forever friendless in the shadowy voids of the unconnected unsocial web.

Friendster! Full circle!

[identity profile] eyelid.livejournal.com 2010-06-04 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I've forgotten what Friendster even was

I left facebook for LJ. I still have a myspace account for complicated reasons, but Shitter?, uh, I mean, Twatter, twitter, whatever, I FUCKING HATE IT MORE THAN I HATE SLOPPY JOES! I was on there for ONE day. It's AWFUL...and so is Fagbook.

Twitter is ok for a few things: one, a lot of cool celebs like Neil Gaiman use it; two, it's easy to use it to mass-text all yr friends at once if you are being drunk and brilliant.

[identity profile] chris.livejournal.com 2010-06-06 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
I like twitter but i don't feel like it is all a replacement for LJ. I probably still post here more than I do on facebook which i just skim once or twice a day.

I still talk up livejournal for its content-driven nature, but I am a pragmatist, so I use what it makes sense to use. Also, I stopped writing so frequently and started playing music. Facebook is better at modular content. You could blog there if you wanted to.

I tried using the Notes feature and even fewer people responded than they do on LJ. I understand, most people are into posting links/videos than written content, but it's still annoying.

[identity profile] holyloki.livejournal.com 2010-06-11 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
It's annoying, but the majority of people will never use a tool like livejournal because writing is work. So, if they can get some social validation through other kinds of interaction via fb, they will, and more people get involved with this kind of active internet.

Ultimately, facebook will lose people too, and while it may not become as desolate as lj, it will suffer some of that as a new tool is bound to crop up soon that displaces it.
