not as much angst about it anymore, but

OK so meg's inspired me to go back to my Stupid Relationship Tricks. I still want to make a book out of it. Here's what I got so far:

Why Polyamory Is Stupid
Why Committing Leads To Cheating
Three Types of Long Distance Relationships and Their Problems
The Black Hole and the Couple Monster
Rules of Engagement (or why people shouldn't get married)

I also have The Normal's Guide to Ass-Smacking but not sure if that should go in or not. I mean, maybe I could just make it a whole book of humorous dating advice in general rather than Bad Things.

Any ideas?

Maybe something about needy guys and the girls who attract them. Or vice versa.

I like the Black Hole one...so true.

Couple monster. That rocks. My best friend and I conspire against her BF and leave him at home on a regular basis. I love that, it's so much fun, and he gets so angsty.

Ooh, the rules of engagement one is good too. Although had you told me all that stuff when I was about to marry my ex-husband I would have told you to fuck right off.

that's what PEOPLE WHO ARE WRONG would say!

I believe the term you're looking for is "sluttony," not "sluttery."

Other than that, bravo.

neither one is a real word

we made up sluttery in college.

Yes yes, I see the error of my ways 13 years later. But it's never too late to get smart, and the current boy hates the thought of marriage. Won't even consider it. That makes me happy, since I never want to share my home with anyone but my kids and maybe a cat ever again. And the kids are getting the fuck out in 10 years, no excuses, no coming back, colleges have dorms, right?

As did I (or at least a little after).

I was trying to describe the deadly sins, but I conflated sloth and gluttony into some new form of sin: "sluttony."

I mean, there's being a slut (which is okay) and then there's wallowing in it. That's sluttony.

Hahhahaa, yeah. I'd probably still be polyamorous if the poly people were at all attractive. I think you hit the nail on the head with your assessment there... polyamory was a lot better back in the days before the amory part was brought into it and it was just "having an understanding that if one of you screwed around it didn't mean you had to break up."

Agreed.

Excellent. I'll have to remember that one--actually both, since "sluttery" is clearly related to "asshattery", which is already part of my vocabulary.

Masochism!

You don't mean S&M I wager.

hey! my experience hasn't been that most poly people were extremely fat and/or unattractive. it's seemed pretty much like anything else.. some fugly, some hot. although i've been told to avoid the wet spot because supposedly the sights there are not good
