lauralhreg and I camped at South Beach (between Pacific and Kalaloch) on the Pacific Coast this weekend. it was drizzley when we approached, but when we woke up the next morning it was sunny and gorgeous. "ALL OUR FRIENDS ARE MORONS," we kept saying. Also, "can't people fry in nature?" but that's for a FO-type post.
On the way out we took I-5 south and passed five collisions (one had been moved already). It took over four hours to get to Aberdeen, and we almost went to a different campsite, but we pushed on and it was worth it. It's a small camping area right on a bluff over the beach, and you can just sit there all day and watch the tide come in and go out. We collected a bunch of driftwood and let it dry in the sunshine, then burned it all in a blaze. There was much hot dog and bacon and smores eating.
We got up at 10 and high-tailed it north up 101, past Forks and Port Angeles. We stopped in Sequim and ate at the 101 Diner, then drove to Bremerton and took the ferry back to Seattle RIGHT IN FUCKING TIME for the stupid fucking baseball fucking game to fucking let out. Boy do I fucking hate people who drive in their cars to the fucking stadium.
Anyway. Home again, laundry toasting and freshly showered.
