Random Laural Fact: I never had pumpkin pie till I was 20. This is probably why I don't like it.

I think them more logical answer is that you don't like pumpkin pie cause it's GROSS! I don't like pumpkin pie either. ick.

I sort of had an all-over Thanksgiving revolution several years ago, learning to like both pumpkin pie and sweet potatoes in one fell swoop. My whole childhood long all I could do was stare at people who ate that stuff, while shaking my head and waiting for them to die from the inevitable toxic overload of Brownish Orange Mush.

I still am afraid of stuffing made by anyone but me. I mean, there could be anything in there.

[identity profile] skipbreakfast.livejournal.com 2005-09-22 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Are you a sweet potato pie sort?

[identity profile] ravenword.livejournal.com 2005-09-22 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
It's fall in New England, which means that every food you previously enjoyed is now available in a horrible pumpkin-ified version. I'm pretty sure Dunkin Donuts has some kind of pumpkin coffee, and pumpkin donuts. Au Bon Pain has their pumpkin soup (which looks exactly like barf, especially if you get in in a bread bowl). I never liked pumpkin pie, or pumpkin anything, really. It was only when I moved up here that I found out just how much stuff can be ruined by putting gourd flesh in it.

marshmallows just don't go with tubers

not in the least.

[identity profile] herbaliser.livejournal.com 2005-09-22 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
ha. I don't mind any kind of stuffing as long as there's no seafood in it. Which is immediately obvious by the smell, so, ok!

[identity profile] chris.livejournal.com 2005-09-22 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
i never had avocados till i was like 24, and now i love them.

Coco's (coffee shop type place) has pumpkin swirl cheesecake. Do you like cheesecake? Oh, dear.

[identity profile] herbaliser.livejournal.com 2005-09-22 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
oh turkey. ::drool::

I like most dessert type foods, though!

[identity profile] herbaliser.livejournal.com 2005-09-22 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I lurve cheesecake. In fact i lurve almost all desserts.

[identity profile] cynica.livejournal.com 2005-09-22 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, how about the fair's or Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory's chocolate-dipped cheesecake?

I'm gaining weight just thinking of this.

[identity profile] herbaliser.livejournal.com 2005-09-22 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I dunno what you mean specifically but me too.

I'm going to a county fair tonight. God.

[identity profile] cynica.livejournal.com 2005-09-22 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Oo, get funnel cakes!

[identity profile] herbaliser.livejournal.com 2005-09-22 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
OH I WILL

[identity profile] thesadpunk.livejournal.com 2005-09-22 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Random Dave Fact: I was afraid of the cleanliness of the deep frier at the carnival, so I tried making funnel cake at home. It sucked.

[identity profile] herbaliser.livejournal.com 2005-09-22 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, my mom used to make pancakes with a funnel, not at all the same think but still pretty tasty.

[identity profile] llarian.livejournal.com 2005-09-22 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
With... seafood?

Dear god why...

[identity profile] skiplogic.livejournal.com 2005-09-22 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
before you make up your mind, try cafe ladro's... just a bite. I was ready to give up on pumpkin pie when I found it.

[identity profile] scarlett723.livejournal.com 2005-09-22 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I hate pumpkin pie as well. Love me some cheesecake and apple pie though.

[identity profile] discogravy.livejournal.com 2005-09-22 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
by that logic, you shouldn't like anything you didn't have before your early 20s. like a smack on the ass at the appropriate time during the knocking boots (or knocking boots itself, i dunno when you first got it on...)

[identity profile] herbaliser.livejournal.com 2005-09-22 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
no, I meant that pumpkin pie is so disgusting you won't like it unless you grew up with it
